Unpaid Carers
Unpaid carers are Scotland’s largest social care workforce. Since the Carers (Scotland) Act 2016, self-directed support has been the vehicle for unpaid carers who are eligible for social work funded support to carry out their caring duties. This means that unpaid carers who have support should have access to the same flexibility in arranging their support as disabled people.

Following our successful Unpaid Carers Action Learning Sets earlier in 2025, we will be running another programme in August. All 3 sessions, will be delivered online on Microsoft Teams

-
Wednesday 10th August 2025 - 10:00 am - 11:30 am
-
Wednesday 27th August 2025 - 10:00 am - 11:30 am
-
Wednesday 3rd September 2025 - 10:00 am - 11:30 am

These three Action Learning Sets will bring together unpaid carers, and people working with carers from service providers and Local Authorities, to explore how unpaid carers can use their budgets in a flexible way that is beneficial to them, looking at the challenges, creating fresh ideas and sharing good practice. We will also be building on the ideas from the last sessions and looking to see how we can action them.

In these sessions, participants will learn from each other and from guest speakers, share examples from their own experiences, and collaborate on change projects.
As with all of our grant funded projects, participation in this is free.
