Fair Work Statement

At In Control Scotland we are committed to Fair Work principles, and strive to go beyond these to support our diverse and valued workforce. What this means in practice is:

Effective voice – we have a strong culture of equity, taking collective responsibility for our work, with all voices heard equally and respectfully. We work collaboratively on our strategy, plans, and policies, sharing successes and planning together for the future.

Investment in our workforce – We celebrate the individual gifts and talents of our team, recognising and strengthening areas of expertise and taking opportunities for peer support and coaching to share skills. We offer an employee wellbeing programme which includes life assurance alongside confidential employee counselling and a range of health and wellbeing activities.

Zero hours contracts – we strongly oppose zero hours contracts. All staff have contracts of employment and clarity in their role.

Gender, equality, and diversity – we are a diverse team and commit to addressing barriers of marginalised groups in their ability to work with us. We are a Disability Confident employer and actively recruit to have diverse life experiences in our team, and we ask for no formal educational requirements. Our policies and daily practice are anti-discriminatory, and we seek diversity of thought at all levels of decision making.

Fair pay – we are a Living Wage accredited organisation that is committed to fair pay for our staff. We have a transparent salary structure and commit to annual cost of living increases, which we pay equally without applying blanket percentage uplifts that disadvantage lower paid employees. We offer an employer pension contribution of 6%, double the statutory minimum.

Family friendly – we offer flexibility as standard, with team members choosing where and how they work most effectively. We coproduced a Carers Policy with members of our team which goes beyond the statutory minimum, as a way of ensuring that our staff team are able to balance their work and caring responsibilities.

Fire and rehire – we strongly oppose fire and rehire practices.
