GETTING TO GRIPS WITH SDS

UNDERSTANDING YOUR OPTIONS, BUILDING YOUR CONFIDENCE

Self-Directed Support can open up opportunities for greater choice and control over the support you receive, but understanding how it works isn't always straightforward.

Our Getting to Grips with Self-Directed Support sessions provide a friendly, practical introduction to SDS for disabled people, unpaid carers, family members and anyone wanting to better understand social care support in Scotland.

WHAT YOU'LL LEARN

We'll explore:

  • What Self-Directed Support is and why it matters

  • The four SDS options and how they work

  • Your rights and responsibilities

  • How assessments and support planning work

  • Common myths and misconceptions

  • Practical examples of SDS in action

  • Where to find further information and support

A SPACE FOR QUESTIONS AND CONVERSATION

We know that everyone's situation is different. Our sessions are designed to be informal and welcoming, with plenty of opportunity to ask questions, share experiences and learn from others.

You don't need any prior knowledge of SDS to take part.
