PARTNERS IN POLICYMAKING

BUILDING LEADERSHIP, CREATING CHANGE

Partners in Policymaking is a leadership programme for disabled people and unpaid carers who want to shape the future of health, social care and public services in Scotland.

The programme supports participants to develop their knowledge, confidence and influence, helping them become effective leaders, advocates and changemakers in their communities and beyond. Through learning, peer support and practical skills development, participants explore topics including human rights, policy, systems change, co-production and leadership.

At its heart, Partners in Policymaking is built on a simple belief: the people most affected by decisions should have the power to influence them.

DEVELOPING LEADERS WITH LIVED EXPERIENCE

For many disabled people and unpaid carers, opportunities to participate in decision-making can be limited by barriers within public services and society.

Partners in Policymaking helps address this by creating space for people to strengthen their leadership skills, build networks and develop the confidence to use their voices effectively.

Graduates of the programme go on to contribute to local and national conversations, influence services, participate in co-production activity and support wider change across Scotland.

FINDING YOUR PEOPLE

Partners in Policymaking brings together disabled people and unpaid carers who want to make a difference. Participants build lasting relationships, support one another's leadership journeys and become part of a powerful network of advocates across Scotland.

Many graduates describe the programme as a place where they found their people: a community that continues to share opportunities, amplify voices and work together for change long after the programme ends.

FUNDED BY THE SCOTTISH GOVERNMENT

Partners in Policymaking is funded by the Scottish Government as part of a commitment to strengthening participation, leadership and the voices of disabled people and unpaid carers in shaping Scotland's future.

While the programme is not currently open for applications, we continue to share learning and celebrate the achievements of Partners graduates across Scotland.
