CONNECTED CONVERSATIONS

LIVED EXPERIENCE LEARNING

Connected Conversations was a national research and engagement project that created space for people from across Scotland to come together and reflect on the future of Self-directed Support.

Bringing together people with lived experience, unpaid carers, practitioners, providers and partners, the project explored the opportunities, challenges and changes needed to ensure SDS delivers on its promise of choice, control and flexibility.

Through a series of conversations and shared learning activities, participants shared experiences, identified common themes and contributed valuable insights about what matters most to people accessing support and those working alongside them.

WHAT WE LEARNED

Connected Conversations highlighted both the progress that has been made and the challenges that remain in making Self-directed Support a reality for everyone.

The project generated learning about:

  • People's experiences of accessing and using SDS

  • The barriers preventing choice and control

  • What good support looks like in practice

  • Building stronger relationships across the system

  • Creating the conditions for meaningful change

  • Priorities for the future of SDS in Scotland
