OUR PROGRAMMES
Creating change alongside people, communities and organisations
At In Control Scotland, we work on a range of programmes that help create greater choice, control, inclusion and community.
Some focus on supporting individuals and families. Others bring people together to learn, influence change and improve systems. While each programme is different, they all share a commitment to co-production, human rights, learning and practical action.

SELF-DIRECTED SUPPORT
We support people, families, organisations and partners to realise the vision of Self-Directed Support in Scotland. We are funded by the Scottish Government as a national improvement partner.
Our work includes developing practical resources, sharing learning, supporting implementation and creating opportunities for people to have greater choice and control over their lives.
LEARNING AND IMPROVEMENT
We create spaces where people can learn together, reflect on challenges and explore new possibilities.
Our learning and improvement work brings together people with lived experience, practitioners, leaders and partners to tackle complex issues and support positive change.
This includes initiatives such as Connected Conversations, Collective Learning Spaces and wider learning and improvement partnerships.
LEADERSHIP AND INFLUENCE
Change happens when people have the confidence, skills and opportunities to shape decisions.
Through programmes such as Partners in Policymaking, Working Together for Change, the Person-Centred Planning Academy and our wider participation work, we support people to develop their leadership and influence.
COMING HOME
Everyone should have the opportunity to live a good life in a home and community of their choosing.
We are proud to host New Routes Home, a national programme supporting positive alternatives to hospital admission and helping people with learning disabilities and autistic people live good lives in their own homes and communities.
We work alongside partners to explore how housing, support and community connections can work better together, including projects that contribute to Scotland's ambitions around independent living, inclusion and reducing reliance on institutional care.
PUBLIC SERVICE REFORM
We believe public services work best when they start with what matters to people, recognise the strengths within communities and create opportunities for genuine participation.
Through learning, partnership and practical action, we contribute to conversations and initiatives that are helping to shape the future of health and social care in Scotland.
WORKING TOGETHER
Many of our programmes overlap and inform one another. What connects them is a shared commitment to building a fairer and more inclusive health and social care system where people have greater choice, control and opportunities to belong.
We're always keen to collaborate with people, communities, organisations and partners who share that ambition.
